My parents exposed me to music from a very young age and I began more formal engagement in programs at the age of 3 with regular attendance at Kindermusik, Gymboree, and others. I had an ear for music, it seemed, and began to expand my talent with piano lessons at the age of 5. I routinely performed in recitals for several years and developed a passion for the beauty of music.
Band is incredibly popular and competitive in Texas. As I entered Middle School, I selected the option to play the bass clarinet since I wanted to do something a bit different from the other students. I loved it! I found that I excelled at performing with it and continued to grow my skill in High School, where I received numerous Area, Region and State awards. I had the distinction of actually reaching the All State level in both my Freshman and Sophomore years. As I move forward with my Junior year, I'm hopeful to be able to have the opportunity to achieve this level once again.
I occassionally teach friends how to improve their performance on a number of instruments. I'm currently expanding a bit and am interested in pursuing providing formal lessons for others.
